Circus Acts Are Cruel to Wild Animals

Attention Big Cat Rescuers,

Notorious Grant Kemmerer's Wild World of Animals Show will take place three times each day with shows at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Admission is free with entry to the fair, and each show will feature the same array of animals at the Jackson County Fair which continues through Sunday, Aug. 12 with gates opening at 10 a.m. daily.

Grant Kemmerer is scheduled to perform this Saturday at an annual community festival called “St. Marys SummerFest in Ohio.

We urgently need your help! 'Wild World of Animals' run by Grant Kemmerer, who was named in the 'Conservation Game' as an animal exploiter is on the show circuit now.

Our mission has always been to provide a safe, loving home for endangered big cats, and to end abuse of big cats in captivity while preventing their extinction in the wild. It's disheartening to know that these magnificent creatures continue to be exploited for entertainment.

We are pleading to all animal lovers, conservationists, and advocates: stand up and make your voices heard. Help us convey the message to Porter County Fair organizers that this is unacceptable. We have to send a strong message that we do not support animal exploitation, and we demand change.

Let's make our collective voice a roar that cannot be ignored. Please sign this petition to ask the fair organizers to cancel Grant Kemmerer's 'Wild World of Animals' show. We need to act swiftly!

Subject: Circus Acts Are Cruel and No Fun for the Animals

Message:

We heard you are involved in an event that is bringing Grant Kemmerer's roadside zoo to perform with big cats but you should know that the Big Cat Public Safety Act was signed into law on 12/20/2022 making it illegal to have contact with big cats AND requiring that big cats be kept at least 15 feet away from the public if they are not behind PERMANENT barriers, such as at a zoo. You should also know that wildcats in performing acts are not trained through positive reinforcement, but rather through beatings, shocking, and deprivation of food and a natural existence. The positive reward training that many circus trainers exhibit is only to deceive the public because no one would support this industry if they knew the truth. Even if they can convince you otherwise, there is no part of being in a traveling road show that is conducive to the health or comfort for an exotic cat. The entire ruse is based upon it being educational or for conservation purposes and it meets neither of those lofty goals either. While you may think it will draw in customers and be entertaining at least, you should know that the era of such ignorance has passed. You will anger far more people than you entertain with such a barbaric relic of the past. We would like you to cancel this show, or your participation in the fair, or at the very least announce that you will no longer have any association with such fairs if they bring in wild cats for display. Please let me know that we can announce to our 3.6 million followers on Facebook and our millions on other social channels that you have chosen to do the right thing for the animals. If you choose otherwise, we will have no other choice than to let our supporters know that we tried to educate you and failed. We will ask them to reach out politely to convince you that the circus is no fun for animals and that people just won't tolerate such abuse any more.
