We heard that Culpepper Merriweather Circus's tigers are exploiting 2 CAPTIVE TIGERS AND A YOUNG MALE AFRICAN LION- Tigers Delilah and Soloman, brother and sister tigers and Wendell the Lion at Venues are Homer, IL, Arthur, IL, Ashland, IL, Hamilton, IL, Grandview/Columbus Junction, IA, Wellman, IA, Hedrick, IA

Large venues no longer book these kinds of acts, so these are happening in parking lots, at schools and behind businesses in their back lots.

Please let them know that the circus is no fun for animals and that people just won't tolerate such abuse any more. Sometimes you will get a nasty email back from people who say it's not their decision, but they are involved in each community in roles where they should be speaking out against animal abuse and that is why we include them.

We heard you, or your town, are involved in an event that is bringing a circus to perform with big cats but you should know that wildcats in performing acts are not trained through positive reinforcement, but rather through beatings, shocking, and deprivation of food and a natural existence. The positive reward training that many circus trainers exhibit is only to deceive the public because no one would support this industry if they knew the truth. Even if they can convince you otherwise, there is no part of being in a traveling road show that is conducive to the health or comfort for an exotic cat. The entire ruse is based upon it being educational or for conservation purposes and it meets neither of those lofty goals either. Large venues no longer book these kinds of acts, so these are happening in parking lots, at schools and behind businesses in their back lots.   While you may think it will draw in customers and be entertaining at least, you should know that the era of such ignorance has passed. This is why large arenas no longer book animal circus acts. You will anger far more people than you entertain with such a barbaric relic of the past. We would like you to cancel this show, or your participation in the fair, or at the very least announce that you will no longer have any association with such acts if they bring in wild cats for display. Please let me know that we can announce to our 3.6 million followers on Facebook and our millions on other social channels that you have chosen to do the right thing for the animals. If you choose otherwise, we will have no other choice than to let our supporters know that we tried to educate you and failed. We will ask them to reach out politely to convince you that the circus is no fun for animals and that people just won't tolerate such abuse any more.
